Angela & Bobby || An Elopement

Today I’m bringing you an elopement that could be straight out of a movie. Like all good movies, let’s start with the love story, straight from the bride herself:

Bobby previously had been married for 20 years and divorced for eleven years. I had been married for 25 years and widowed for ten.

After being single for eleven and ten years, respectively, neither of us were happy with the people we had been dating. So, we both asked God to help us find “the one.” After meeting on-line and chatting for a week we learned that we had spent most of our lives living near each other. Going to the same places for decades, but had never met. I was an Antioch Bear and he was an Overton Bobcat. Our two eldest children attended the same school at the same time. We even went to the same church once upon time.

Our first date was a bicycle ride in the park. He had an old bicycle that was two sizes two small for him. I had just recently had a knee replacement, so we were evenly matched for the ride. After our ride, Bobby surprised me with cupcakes because I had begun to call him “Cupcake.” He in turn, called me “Rump Roast” after his favorite food. We decided to go to dinner and a movie. From that day forward we spent more and more time together. We fell head over heels “in like” with each other. We both knew it was more serious than “liking” each other so early on, but neither wanted to say it.

After many months of being together every day, we knew we wanted to spend our lives together. We both had sought God’s help and knew without a doubt that He had brought us together.

Fast forward a bit …Angela and Bobby found this covered bridge in Bell Buckle, TN one day while out on a bike ride together (so fitting!). Once they knew that was the spot for them, Angela put together some special details to gussy it up, got the bikes wedding-ready, bought some fun shoes, invited their children, and created the perfect elopement.

I loved this wedding because of how personal it was (the best wedding is the one that showcases your personalities and loves), and because of the joy apparent throughout it all. As Angela said, it was obvious that God brought these two together.
