October is Down Syndrome awareness month. According to the NDSS and the CDC, “approximately one in every 700 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome, making Down syndrome the most common chromosomal condition. About 6,000 babies with Down syndrome are born in the United States each year.”
A few of those sweet babies had the good luck to be adopted by the Schram family. After their children had grown, Natalie Schram and her husband decided to adopt special needs children. Natalie also with works with an organization to help families adopt and educate about adoption. In short, she’s a wonderful human.
I had such a great time documenting this family - you could see the love they all share in every photo.
